Head Golf Professional: Jon LeSage
Jon LeSage is the newest Head Golf Professional of the MCG courses. Jon joined the PGA in 1989, working under the tutelage of Bill Strausbauagh, Jr. Jon worked at Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, Maryland for over five years. With an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for teaching, Jon went on to build two driving ranges from start to finish. Becoming the Head Golf Professional at Falls Road Golf Course was a dream come true for Jon; “not only are we constructing new holes, but we are also developing a Golf Learning Center that will make Falls Road Golf Course the ultimate place to play and learn golf.”

Jon grew up playing the game of golf, and decided he wanted to become a PGA professional when his mother married Bob Benning in 1982. Mr. Benning was the Head Professional at Congressional Country Club, where Jon worked and developed his game. Jon played college golf for Methodist College in North Carolina for the club team, as well as the traveling team.

As a PGA Professional, Jon has won numerous tournaments in the Middle Atlantic Section and has competed on the PGA Tour level in the Kemper Open and the Nike Dominion Open.

Superintendent: Jon Lobenstine
Jon Lobenstine came to Falls Road in 2003 to provide additional management support during and following the 2002-2004 golf course renovation project. Jon was “groomed” in the golf course maintenance arena when he worked at Chevy Chase Club for 4 years under the direction of locally renowned Golf Course Manager Dean Graves. He was on the management team there for 3 of those years and brings a lot of the same "private club" philosophies here to Falls Road.

Jon was an Assistant Superintendent at Falls Road for two years until being promoted to Superintendent in September of 2005. In September 2006, he earned the responsibility of becoming the first Director of Agronomy of the Revenue Authority. He plans on implementing a variety of programs geared toward improving consistency in playing conditions, maximizing operational efficiency and improving the overall golfing experience at our great golf courses.

Jon graduated from the University of Kansas in 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish. He didn't know it at the time, but having this background as well as participating in a Study Abroad program with the University of Costa Rica helped prepare him for managing today's multicultural workforce. After college, he worked in a variety of technical environments such as digitizing nautical charts and taking a dip in the dot com world in a network operations center. Once he started playing golf, though, he combined his love for being outdoors with this newfound passion by getting into golf course maintenance.

He obtained the Advanced Turfgrass Management Certificate from Pennsylvania State University’s World Campus in 2002 while working at Chevy Chase Club, and continues to supplement his learning by attending local, regional and national educational seminars and conferences.

Jon has participated in grow-in and renovation projects at both Chevy Chase Club and Falls Road. He is a member of the USGA, Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, the Mid-Atlantic Association of Golf Course Superintendents, and the Maryland Turfgrass Council.
